My Top 5 Favorite Albums
This list does not include any Taylor Swift because all Taylor Swift is superior to any other music that has been created. I am working on compiling Taylor’s albums in my order of preference for a separate blog post. This list below consists of music that if we happened to live in a world with no Taylor Swift (a world I wish to never see) this would then be the music that I consider to be superior. However, Taylor Swift exists, and her music is superior.
Melodrama by Lorde
Melodrama by Lorde is my all time favorite album. This album is a masterpiece. This is art and poetry at its finest. This album was my summer 2017 anthem, and honestly continues to be my life anthem. My top songs from this album include Hard Feelings/Loveless, The Louvre, and Supercut. It is so haunting and always makes me feel things. My favorite lyrics include “In my head I do everything right, when you call I forgive and not fight.” from Supercut, “I overthink your punctuation use. Not my fault, just a thing that my mind do” from The Louvre, and “I’ll start letting go of little things, till i’m so far away from you” from Hard Feelings/Loveless. In fact, Hard Feelings/Loveless is the most poetic song ever. I cannot get enough of it.
This album makes me want to fall in love with someone. But not just love them. It makes me really want to love someone. Late nights, and street fights. Dances in moonlight and stop signs. Then, it makes me want to fall out of love with them. Maybe be sad for a while, and then come to love myself and find healing in it. That is how this album makes me feel. Honestly, everyone needs to listen to it at least once.
Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande
My second favorite album is Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande. This album is a beautiful collection of love, loss, and self discovery. Love her or hate her, you cannot deny that Ariana Grande has a very impressive vocal range, which is so beautifully displayed in this album. My favorite songs from this album include in my head, NASA, and imagine. I feel in my head on a spiritual level. I mean, I can’t be the only person who has painted people in a different light in my head than what they actually are.
This album makes me want to be alone. It makes me want to reflect on my life and the people in my life. It makes me never want to be in a relationship. It makes me feel emotions.
Don’t Smile at Me by Billie Eilish
Don’t Smile at Me is my third favorite album. Billie Eilish has the most haunting siren like voice. It’s incredibly beautiful and dreamy. I could listen to her voice all day. This album is a pure masterpiece. It really captures the struggles of growing up and of human life. To make it even more impressive, she recorded this album in her room!! I mean who does that!?! My favorites from the album include ocean eyes and watch. I especially love the lyrics in watch “If we were meant to be, we would have been by now.” That song really captures what it’s like to love someone and not have them love you back.
This album makes me want to also be alone. It makes me ponder life. It hits me right in personal experiences or things that I had to work on/are continuing to work on. It takes me into my head. I don’t really know how to explain the way I feel when I listen to this album. It’s haunting. That’s the best way to describe it.
Bloom by Troye Sivan
Bloom by Troye Sivan is my number four favorite album. This album gets me in my feels. The way that Troye tells a story in each song. It’s so descriptive and makes it easy to imagine a scene while you listen to it. The way he created this album to be a coming of age masterpiece is incredible. I love anything coming of age. There is just enough dance music and sad music to really take you on an emotional rollercoaster. My favorites from this album include The Good Side, Dance to This, Seventeen, and Animal. The lyrics are so haunting. Animal makes me feel so lonely but in a good way. Dance to This makes me want to jump onto the nearest table and bust down. It makes me feel young and makes me want to be in love. Seventeen creates this scene of growing up and coming of age. The Good Side hits me on another level with the lyrics “I got the good side of you.” It makes me feel bittersweet and ponder the good memories that I have of people.
This album is one that I highly recommend people listen to once in their lives. It portrays a story that I believe everyone can relate to. I mean, we all grow up don’t we? We all fall in love and then fall out. We make mistakes. We are wild, and young, and free. We all feel. This album contains all of this. It is an incredible piece of work.
Rainbow by Kesha
My fifth favorite album is Rainbow by Kesha. This album is so unique. The way Kesha switches from dance music to rock to country and then to ballads. This album really shows how dynamic Kesha really is. It shows her healing from the trials that she faced. It shows a glimpse into her mind. There is really no rhyme or reason to this album or the songs that were selected on it. It’s a mess but also a beautiful mess and I think people can relate to that. My favorites from this album include Praying, Spaceship, and Rainbow. Praying is an obvious beautiful ballad, but I really love the way that Kesha healed through this song. It wasn’t anger or evil that she wished upon the other person, but it was good. Spaceship is a beautiful song because the message talks about how she really doesn’t feel that she belongs on Earth. This one touches me sooooo deeply. I really struggle to feel that I belong where I do. I feel lonely all the time, and I constantly search to connect with someone on a deep level. I haven’t found it yet, but this song really gets me. I feel it. Rainbow is a beautiful song because it just has a beautiful message. I love the message that it portrays. It’s a message of hope.
This album is the weirdest album on this list, but it’s really great. It’s the most hopeful of all the albums. It is a beautiful masterpiece. I also strongly recommend this album. There is seriously something for everyone on it.
So here is the list of my top five favorite albums. I hope that you enjoyed reading it. As you can tell, I am a sucker for sad coming of age albums. I love to feel emotions. I love that music can do that. If you give any of these albums a listen, please tell me how you liked them!
