My First Couple Weeks of College
Hello Everyone! I know it’s been a while, but I wanted to write another blog post updating the first couple of weeks of school. So for those who don’t know, I recently moved out here to Utah to attend school at Utah Valley University. It has been wonderful! I have really loved it. I have received a lot of questions about how everything is, so I decided to make a post answering those questions. So here we go:
What are you majoring in? What do you want to do with your life? What classes are you taking?
I am majoring in Business Management. I want to start a fashion company with my degree. I want to mainly focus on women's clothing such as dresses, but I do want to have my hand in all areas of fashion. I am also considering opening up a holistic spa that helps troubled youth. I guess we will see where life takes me. I am currently only a freshman so I am taking my generals. I am taking Math, English, French, PE, and Ballet.
How do you like your classes? How are your teachers? What is the homework like?
I love my classes! They are amazing. The only one that I don’t like is my English class and that’s because I don’t really love English. My teachers are amazing. I really love my French teacher! She is so incredible and has really helped with my adjustment into College. I really love Ballet teacher as well. She sees a lot of potential in me as a dancer and really makes me feel like me. My PE teacher, however, makes me angry sometimes. He’s a nice guy, but he also does cross-fit so the exercises that he assigns are really intense. I don’t like exercising. Also, my English teacher sucks at communicating, but she has been nice so I guess that’s all that matters. My homework load is incredibly light. I thought I would have more than I do, but I don’t. It is really nice especially because I am working full time as well.
How is work going? Do you like it?
Work is going amazing! I seriously cannot tell you how much I LOVE working for Target! It is also amazing because I work in the style section, or the clothes. I love merchandising and working with clothes. This is a great way for me to gain experience for my future career. The transfer was also so easy, and my new team is incredible. They are so so kind!
Have you made any friends? Do you have time to socialize?
I actually have made friends! I have made friends at my job and also at school and my apartments! Seriously, everyone I have met so far is so kind! I also spend so much time socializing. I have gone on so many adventures including photoshoots in the woods and indie concerts and just drives. It has been incredible!
How is your apartment? Who are you living with? Are you getting along?
My apartment is great. It is definitely not the nicest apartment, but it’s affordable and it’s a roof over my head. I am so thankful for my apartment. I am currently living with some friends from my mission. They’re great. We have had our differences though such as a different definition of clean and where food should go, but one thing that I really appreciate about my roommates is that if I talk with them, they listen. So we are able to communicate and solve problems. I really appreciate that.
Do you like Utah? Are you happy? Surviving or thriving?
Honestly, I still don’t know where I stand on Utah. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. I guess I’m in the middle because it has a lot of good things, but there are some things that I have been struggling with. One of those being the way that people up here drive. The worst drivers I have ever seen. I would say though, that I am thriving. I definitely am not just surviving. I am creating a life that I love to live here and to me, that is thriving.
